Class Description

Have you ever watched a show like Saturday Night Live, Studio C, or The Carol Burnett Show and wondered, "how do are they so fun and how do they do what they do?" You're about to find out! In this class, students will have fun working with their own team of writers to create fun sketches for Showcase! Over the course of the session, students will learn how to develop characters & storylines, edit sketches, overcome writer's block, and more!

Kathryn (Kat) Reynolds

Kat is thrilled to begin working with students at CYT! A classically trained singer, she feels blessed to have had opportunities to perform in many different areas including church praise bands, operas, cantatas, and many musical theatre productions. Some of her favorite past roles include Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady, Luisa in The Fantasticks, and Olive in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. She most recently worked as a contract actor at an improv comedy theatre in Salt Lake City, Utah where she performed in multiple musical parodies. Now settled back in Texas, she is excited to once again work with students and help them discover and strengthen their own unique, God-given talents. Her hope is that each student she works with will not only gain singing and performance skills, but also gain confidence that will help them both onstage and off.
